The Glass
Family Story We arrived in Port
Chalmers from Alloa on the Firth of Forth in the 1860's. Great Grandfather Ebinezer worked in Dunedin as a commercial painter and decorator for five years then moved to Oamaru with his new wife during the boom years of gold, grain and wool.
Three generations of Glasses grew up and prospered in Oamaru and North Otago, during eras of substantial local manufacturing and agricultural export industries.
The paint trade fed, clothed and educated all our immediate family, through world wars and good times. Ours is a facinating history which we are proud to share. In sharing the history we are grateful to thos who are actively researching and maintaining histories of the various branches of the family lines.
Warm Regards
